HAMS PICTURE RETAKE DAY INFO! Picture Retake Day is 10/17/2023! If you're satisfied with your child's picture, no further action is required. If you purchased and were unhappy with your Picture Package, please send your Picture Package to school with your student on Retake Day. Your Retake Picture Package will be produced and shipped to the school four weeks after Retake Day. Please note, if your child is photographed on the original and Retake Picture Days, the Retake picture will replace the original picture in certain products, like the yearbook. 8th grade math students explored congruence with geoboards this week to begin our geometry unit.










We were proud to welcome families and honor our HAMS September Students of the Month at an assembly yesterday. #CornjerkerPride




Today student's in Mrs. MacDonald's class visited Kirby Foods to review several skills they have been working on over several classes. Students practiced skills like dollar up addition, adding and subtracting numbers with decimals, expiration date identification, department and item location, and gathering items needed for a visual recipe activity.







HAMS will be celebrating Homecoming Week with dress up days from September 25-29.

It was Alma Mater Day at HAMS. Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State University, University of Illinois, Lincoln Christian College, Olivet Nazarene University, Western Illinois University, Southern Illinois University, Aurora University, Mississippi State University, Missouri Valley College, Oklahoma State University, Grand Canyon University, and Purdue University were represented at school today.

Congratulations to our HAMS softball team for advancing to the Regional championship game. The championship is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 at home. Come out and support the Cornjerkers!

6th Grade Families! Band and Choir signups are underway! A Parent Meeting will be held in the John Greer Band room Tuesday August 29th at 6:30pm. This is the perfect opportunity for students to try something new or continue their success. Great memories are made in music!

Today, HAMS teachers Mrs. Young, Ms. Kennedy, and Mrs. Lee took part in an engaging professional development opportunity in Momence, learning about building positive relationships and a strong educational environment. Leading the day were two nationally known educational experts, Brian Mendler and Gerry Brooks. These HAMS teachers are excited to bring what they've learned to school this fall.



Mrs. Lee’s HAMS 8th grade honors ELA class studied commencement address structure. Then, students wrote and presented their own addresses, wearing mortarboards they created.
Students voted on their top three choices for the Lee-Sie Award of Literary Excellence.

Our 8th graders completed their Holocaust unit by visiting the Courage to Remember Exhibit in Savoy today.







As part of yesterday's Springfield trip, the 8th graders had the amazing privilege of visiting the floor of the House of Representatives and meeting Senator Chapin Rose and Representative Chris Miller. #CornjerkerPride
