Today student's in Mrs. MacDonald's class visited Kirby Foods to review several skills they have been working on over several classes. Students practiced skills like dollar up addition, adding and subtracting numbers with decimals, expiration date identification, department and item location, and gathering items needed for a visual recipe activity.

Today, HAMS teachers Mrs. Young, Ms. Kennedy, and Mrs. Lee took part in an engaging professional development opportunity in Momence, learning about building positive relationships and a strong educational environment. Leading the day were two nationally known educational experts, Brian Mendler and Gerry Brooks. These HAMS teachers are excited to bring what they've learned to school this fall.

Our HAMS 8th graders were blessed to have Mr. William Gingold visit and share the experiences of his family during the Holocaust. Mr. Gingold was born at a hospital a day prior to it being bombed and destroyed. Tomorrow the 8th graders will be traveling to Champaign to visit the Courage To Remember Exhibit, hosted by the Simon Wiesenthal Museum of Tolerance. These activities are part of a culminating experience for the 8th grade Holocaust unit.
