Congratulations to Owen Brefeld and his impressive performance at IESA State Track Meet. Owen competed in both shot put and disc! We are so proud of you!

8th grade math students finished out the semester by seeing how much they grew this school year. They measured their heights & wingspans and compared them to their measurements from the first week of school. Our students have grown so much academically and physically this school year.

2025 Youth Girls Basketball Camp - Registration Now Open! Hoopeston Area Junior Volleyball Camp July 21st-24th Students entering grades 3rd-8th Students do NOT have to attend Hoopeston Area to participate Registration and money due by July 1st! Registration forms and payment can be mailed to HAMS or John Greer. You may also drop registration off at HAMS or John Greer offices until June 20th.

Congratulations to our 8th grade boys track team on placing 4th out of 14 teams at Sectionals today! Owen Brefeld individually qualified for Disc and Shot. He will compete at State next Friday in Peoria.

🏀 5th & 6th Grade Girls Basketball is BACK! 🏀 We’re excited to announce that Cornjerker girls basketball is returning for incoming 5th and 6th grade students this fall! We’re thrilled to bring this opportunity back for our younger student-athletes! 🏀 Season begins August 5th 🏀 Open to incoming 5th grade girls at John Greer School and incoming 6th grade girls at HAMS 🏀 We’re still finalizing details, including team structure and whether tryouts will be needed. Ms. Kennedy's Science classes did a great job competing in a scavenger hunt to find examples of weathering, erosion, and deposition on the school grounds today!

Mrs. Lee’s HAMS 8th grade honors ELA class studied commencement address structure. Then, students wrote and presented their own addresses, wearing mortarboards they created. Some laughs, some tears, and many wonderful memories were shared. Students voted on their top three choices for the Lee-Sie Award of Literary Excellence. Congratulations to our top three winners: 1st: Ashley C. 2nd: Josslyn S. 3rd: Thomas T. and Brisyn H.

Our 8th graders today in Springfield: We visited the Capitol building, met with State Senator Chris Balkema, and toured the Abraham Lincoln Museum. It was an awesome trip. #cornjerkerpride

Mrs. Mac's Life Skills class had a blast packing some goodie bags for their favorite teachers 💙 We are so thankful for our HAMS teachers and how they go above and beyond for us everyday! Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Congrats to our Hoopeston Area Middle School 8th Grade Farewell Court. This year's court included Eizen Pyle, Bianca Mendoza, Haydin Mills, Sophia Perez, Chloe Grant, Henry Lange, Tomas Toquica, Morgan Stephens, Tinlee Baughn, and Chloe Miller. We are so proud of each of you and excited to see you succeed in High School! ✨

The many talents of HAMS students were on full display this evening at the Fine Arts Festival. As always, the band and chorus were amazing. Students were also able to show off their science projects at the annual Science Fair. Congratulations on all of your hard work!

Congratulations to Henry Lange and Olivia Gillins for being chosen as middle school representatives for the Illinois Principal's Association Recognition Breakfast! They are both great students and great kids.
