HAMS Homecoming Spirit Week Dress Up Days for October 5-9.

The HAMS Student Council Fall Dance is this Friday, September 25. Please reach out to Student Council Sponsors Mrs. Judy or Mrs. Eighner with any questions.

Last week, the HAMS 8th grade honors ELA class set their intentions for the 2026-27 school year. First, they selected three colors they believed represented them; painted a canvas with those colors; then researched the meaning of those colors and wrote about those meanings and their connection to self. Then, students reflected on a word that would guide them through the year, adding that word to the canvas. Based on how this project went, it’s going to be a fantastic year full of purpose for these students!

HAMS teachers and staff were excited to say “howdy” to our 26-27 students at open house on Thursday night. We can’t wait to see you all for our first day of school tomorrow. Let’s “take the reins of our future” together, Cornjerkers!

Mrs. Young’s 6th grade math students spent the last week of school wrapping up the year with their “Lucky Number Project!” Students each chose a special number and completed research questions connected to it, then showcased their findings on creative poster boards. It was so much fun seeing their personalities, creativity, and hard work shine through each project! ✨

The HAMS 8th Grade Honors ELA wrapped up their year with writing and presenting commencement addresses, wearing mortarboards they created for the event. Students also voted on their classmates for the final 2025-26 Lee-Sie Award for Literary Excellence. Congratulations to our winners: 1st: Leo L. 2nd: Payton M. 3rd: Caroline L.

Mrs. Mac's Life Skills Math Class at the Middle School wrapped up their baking measurements unit with a cupcake party. They got to design their own cupcakes and eat a sweet treat! We are so proud of their growth this year!

Mrs. Mac's Life Skills Class read over 205 books this year combined! To celebrate we got lunch and a new book! We are so proud of our students and all their hard work. Thank you 112 and Boxcar for always being so kind to our students and encouraging them in their life skills!

The 8th grade field trip to Springfield went great today. Students got a tour of the State Capitol and got to meet Rep. Chris Miller on the Floor of the House of Representatives. Then it was on to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, followed by lunch in the park. A lot of learning and a lot of fun! #cornjerkerpride

As always, the HAMS Band and Chorus put on an amazing performance at the Fine Arts Festival!

The HAMS 8th Grade Honors ELA class hosted teachers, staff, and district administration for its Poetry Gallery Walk. Students presented their best poetry writing from their recent poetry unit, and guests voted on their top choices for the third 2025-26 winner of the “Lee-sie Award of Literary Excellence.” Congratulations to: 1st: Gemma C. 2nd: Landon S. 3rd: Madrhyk M. It was a wonderful morning showcasing our students’ talent!
