Third grade students started working on book recommendations for their classmates that they will share in their Book Cafe’ on Monday.

For the last several weeks the 5th and 6th grade students have been working hard to create their own mini STOMP inspired compositions. I wanted to share a few pictures of some of the projects presented today in Mrs. Gress, Mrs. Weeks, and Mr. Soderstrom’s classes. For the project, they had to bring in several non-musical objects to play. Then they created three (or more!) rhythms to layer on top of one another. These percussive creations were thought up after discussing the musical qualities of seemingly mundane objects as demonstrated by the popular group STOMP. The kids really took leadership roles and helped each other learn their parts. You can see a few students really enjoyed taking on the role of the conductor! Great job guys!

Mrs. Gooding's class received their second gift of books this year thanks to some special donors! The kids are so excited to take these books home to keep! #cornjerkerpride #johngreer
