Topic: Hoopeston Area High School Safety Plan - Rally Drill

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of the Hoopeston Area High School Safety Plan, our students will be participating in an ALICE Drill on Friday, September 24th.  This letter is intended to inform you of the procedures that would be used in an emergency that requires action.

In the event that an actual emergency evacuation would be needed at the High School, students and teachers have been taught to exit the building via any open exit.  Depending on which side of the building a student exits, we have designated a community location on the North, South, East, and West sides of the HAHS property where staff and students would rally.  Once there, the administration would make the decision if the Relocation/Reunification site of the Hoopeston Civic Center should be used.

To accommodate our drill, on September 24th, the Hoopeston Police Department will assist by blocking several HS/MS exits.  The purpose of blocking several exits is to simulate a real emergency where students and staff may have to make decisions about how to safely and quickly exit the building.  Once outside, everyone will report to one of our rally points.

The purpose of all our drills is to prepare students and staff for a variety of situations that could occur.  As always, our first goal is the safety of your children.

Thank you for your continued support!
