Update Regarding Website Program Breach

Dear Parents and Guardians,

After further investigation, we have found that our new website host, Apptegy, was not responsible for the incident on Monday morning.  This is the first breach of this sort for the company, and we have learned that it happened because the program was accessed through the theft of a current staff member's password.  The district has a plan in place to implement procedures to better secure passwords for all programs.

The student information that was viewable from the program during the breach was student names, parent names, emails and phone numbers for emergency notification.  It is not possible to download this information because of a safeguard built into the program.  No other identifying information of any kind is available through the program.

We are thankful for the Hoopeston Police Department's investigation into this incident and very sorry for the disruption this person caused members of our community.

Sincerely,

Suzi Hesser, Superintendent
