Bob Summers attended Hoopeston-East Lynn from 1972-1975. While attending Hoopeston, he was an outstanding track and field athlete.
As a sophomore, Summers finished first in the 880 yard relay and 180 yard low hurdles at the Fresh/Soph Vermilion County track meet in Georgetown. Summers was also a member of the fresh/soph relay that placed first in the 440 yard relay at the Wauseca Conference meet.
His junior year, he was part of an 8 lap relay team that took first place in the Harold Jestor Indoor Relays and during the Hoopeston-East Lynn RelaysBob was on the 880 yard relay and mile relay team that took first place. Other top finishes include: first in the 180 yard low hurdles at the Georgetown Invite and first in the sprint medley and 880 yard relay at the Rensselaer Relays. Summers was the county champion in the 330 yard low hurdles while setting a county record with a 39.8 second run. His relay also set a county record in the 440 yard relay and also placed first in the 880 yard relay.
1975 brought about his best track and field performances of his high school career. Summers was the 1975 Class A State Champion in the 330 yard low hurdles and a member of the 1975 Class A State Champion 880 yard relay team. His 440 yard relay team also placed second that year at the IHSA State meet. Summers help boost the 1975 track team to a second place tie in the 1975 Class A Track and Field meet.
Mr. Summers and his wife Amy currently reside in St. Joeseph, Illinois. They have one son, Eric. Summers has served as the Project Manager for the last 25 years for Frasca International, Inc., is the owner of Summerskyz Helicopter Flight Training and is the co-owner of Helicopter Services of Illinois. Bobb enjoys skydiving in his spare time.
