HAMS Parents, Teen Reach will close at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 18th.

HAMS Families:
Hello! Mrs. Walder, here!
I am going to do student chats during homeroom class periods! This means I will come to class and pass out a handout on where to get support and help if needed. We will briefly cover several topics like: depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicide, lgbtq, ptsd, etc. We will not go into detail about these things, it is simply to reach out and give information about who to talk to and get support from if any students would like more information. If you have any questions please feel free to call Mrs. Walder at 217-283-0377 or send an email at walderen@hoopeston.k12.il.is To opt out of these mini chat sessions, please contact the HAMS office.

Hoopeston Area Middle School Families, there are a few things to know as we approach the end of the quarter and semester. First, we will not be administering semester exams. While teachers will be having tests during the final week of the quarter, their purpose will be to wrap up the current chapter or unit prior to break.
Also, all work from this quarter will be due by the end of the day on Friday, December 18th for in person learners and no later than Monday, December 21st at 8:30 AM for remote learners. The only exception to this will be tests that need to be made up for students that were absent or quarantined on test days. If your child falls into this category, HAMS staff will be reaching out to you to schedule a time to get the test or tests made up. Make up days will be January 4th and 5th. If you know your child will be absent on December 17th and/or 18th, please make arrangements with your child’s teachers to get their tests taken before those dates.
Lastly, school will resume for students on January 6th. This is a change to the original calendar. When we return from the holiday break, HAMS students will begin attending in person on Wednesdays. We will continue to dismiss at 12:20 all five days of the week. There will be no change to our schedule on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. On Wednesdays students will meet with their teachers for periods 1-6. Their remote work on Wednesdays will be for periods 7 and 8 only.
If you have any questions, please contact the HAMS office at 217-283-6664. Thank you!

HAMS Families: HAMS teachers will be at the Rankin Lions Club for homework help from 8:30-10:30 AM tomorrow.

HAMS Families: Teen Reach will dismiss at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 25th.

Hoopeston Area Middle School Families, due to lack of numbers at our Wednesday homework help sessions, we will be adjusting our schedule. Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, November 11th, we will only travel to the Rankin Lion's Club. HAMS staff will be there from 8:30-10:30 AM. If your child needs assistance from staff members on Wednesday, and they live outside of Rankin, please call the school to make arrangements. Also, our teachers are still available for help at the school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:30-3:30 and all day on Wednesday. Please call the office or email in advance, so we can make sure someone is available to provide your student with the attention and support they deserve.

HAMS Families: Teen Reach will be cancelled for the remainder of the week.

HAMS is proud to announce our inaugural group of Remote Learning Students of the Week. We have so many students that are getting their work done and participating in their Google Meets, we felt we needed to recognize them in a special way. We're proud to honor these three students for all of their hard work as they work from home.

HAMS Families: HAMS teachers will resume our Wednesday homework help sessions this week. We will be moving the location of our Hoopeston session due to the weather. Our schedule will be as follows: 8:30-9:30 Rankin Lions Club; 10:00-11:00 East Lynn Church basement; 11:30-12:30 Wellington Lions Club Park Shelter; 1:00-2:00 HAMS Library. Please call the school if you have any questions. Thank you!

HAMS Families: Unfortunately the HAMS teachers will not be coming out into the community this week to provide homework help. We will restart this next week (11/4). However, students may still come into the school by appointment to receive help with homework. Please email your teachers or call the school to set up an appointment.

HAMS Families: In honor of Red Ribbon Week (next week) we are going to have simple theme days. Each day we will ask students to wear a special color that goes along with our drug-free message for the day. Please see the photo for the daily themes and colors. Thank you, HAMS, for choosing to be drug-free!

HAMS Families: Just a reminder that each week of remote learning students need to login to the Middle School Office classroom and answer an attendance question. If you have questions about this, please contact the MS office.

HAMS Families: Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide Wednesday homework help at this time. We have loaned all of our hotspots out to families in need of them during this period of remote learning. That means that we do not have internet to take out into the community for our homework help sessions. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and I hope we can get this back up and running soon.
