Abby McDonald

Abby Kuntz McDonald is a 2001 graduate of Hoopeston Area High School. Abby played 3 sports earning 10 varsity letters. In volleyball she holds the school record for serving with a 99.4% serving accuracy. Abby was a 2 year all county and all conference first team. 2nd team New Gazette and played in the Illinois High School All-Star game.

After graduating Abby played Volleyball at Danville Area Community College, she was team captain, All Conference, most valuable player and ranked in the top 10 in the nation in assists per game. Abby then transferred to the University of Illinois in Springfield where she was a 2 year starter. Team captain & academic All Conference.

Abby is currently a second grade teacher, and head Volleyball coach at the St. Joseph-Ogden High School. After 9 years she has 228 wins and 59 loses. 6 Regional titles. Abby was named Coach of the Year by the News Gazette in 2012. The 2016 season the Spartans ended their season with a record of 31 wins and 4 losses. This made school history with the most wins. This also was the first time that the Volleyball program has placed in the State Finals, receiving second in State in class 2 A.
