HAMS Families,

Here are this week's remote learning activities.  Please be sure to reach out to your teachers via email or Google Classroom if you have questions.

Week of:  4/6

Directions:  Complete each assignment listed below.  All materials will be posted on Google Classroom.  If you need to pick up hard copies of the materials, the building will be open on Monday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, or by appointment (email Mrs. White- whiteml@hoopeston.k12.il.us).

6th Grade

ELA

  1. Read “The Real Vikings”

    1. Answer text questions.

    2. Look over the vocabulary definitions document and complete the vocab matching assignment.

  2. Edgenuity (20 minutes, twice per week)

  3. Read an AR book (20 minutes per day)

  4. Optional: Chapters 4-6 of The Awkward Adventures of Super Pizza will be included for your reading pleasure.

Wells

  1. Complete Activity 12.1 in Earth Science Lesson 12 on IQWST or in packet.  If you can, use playdough to make your models, take a picture and then send it to me or turn it in with your packet.  If you can’t use playdough or take a picture, draw the models on paper and then turn them in. Then you will answer the questions about the three pictures on IQWST.

  2. Complete Earth Science Lesson 12 Reading One on IQWST or in packet.  Make sure to read carefully and give thoughtful answers.

  3. See how many landforms you can identify from your window, as you enjoy your Good Friday holiday!  No need to turn your answers in.

Soderstrom 

  1. Google Classroom: Life Science Assessment Project: Required Components 4 -7, if you have not worked on Require Components 1 - 3 yet you need to do these as well.

  2. Google Classroom: Personally Improving Organisms Activity: Pick an organism, your job is to try and improve that organism by giving them three organic structures they previously did not have. Explain how each of these organic structures helps the organism survive better than it already has.

6th Grade Social Studies Work for the Week of 4/6/20 to 4/9/20:

1). Current Events- CNN10 VIew on 4-6-20 and complete the write-up form.  View a Television News Broadcast on 4-7-20 of your choice and complete the write-up form.

2). Discovery Education- Concept 9.2 Greek Political Systems

* Read and highlight the Engage, Explore, and Evaluate Tabs

* CER Concept 9.2- Democracy, Then and Now: Explore page 3: Read and Complete Questions on Google Classroom

  • Please complete the activities that were mailed to you.

Science

Wells:

  1. Watch the Brainpop online movie about the digestive system, or read the transcript of the quiz questions in the packet and answer the quiz questions that go with it.

  2. Using the online Brainpop movie, the internet, or a dictionary define the vocabulary words about the digestive system.  Use those vocabulary words in a sentence.

  3. Optional:  Read some of the interesting articles about the digestive system included in your packet or play the “Guts and Bolts” game on BrainPop OR do something else to enjoy your Good Friday holiday.

Fletcher:

  • Complete the worksheets mailed to you.

History

    • Assess each group using the attached score sheet and offer two suggestions for improvement.
