On Thursday, April 25th, HAHS, in partnership with Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center and Community Partners, is conducting a mock crash at Hoopeston Area High School at 9:00 AM. The mock car crash aims to send a reminder of the dangers and consequences of unsafe driving behaviors — such as drinking and driving and not buckling up — prior to prom and the end of the school year.

The mock crash will be using real crashed vehicles set up on school grounds and student participants to dramatically act out roles as crash victims. The school’s student body will watch the demonstration and learn how emergency responders conduct rescue efforts in real-time.  This includes the use of emergency vehicles and a life flight helicopter arriving on the scene.

The dramatization, followed by a school assembly, will last from 9:00-10:45.

Participating in the event are the Hoopeston Fire Department, Hoopeston Police Department, Arrow Ambulance, AirLife Helicopter service, Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center, Anderson Funeral Home, Paul’s Towing service, and a Vermilion County Coroner representative.
