1987 Girls Track and Field Team

IHSA 4th Place

The 1987 Hoopeston East Lynn girls track team finished their season being undefeated in their dual, triangular and quadrangular meets.  They took 1st place at the Lady Greyhound Classic, 2nd place at the St. Joe Ogden Classic, 3rd place at the Rensselaer Relays and finished 2nd place in the sectional meet. Six athletes went on to qualify for the state meet held at Eastern Illinois University and placed 4th overall in the state meet, missing a state trophy by 2 points.  Individual event winners were as follows:

Jill Doty—100 meter dash state champion
Jill Doty—200 meter dash--2nd place
Aly Jo Haggerty—1600 meter run—4th place
Madonna Johnson—300 meter hurdles—6th place
Dawn Karrick, Jane Smith, Nikki Kennett and Jill Doty—4 x 100 meter relay—2nd place
Dawn Karrick, Jane Smith, Nikki Kennett and Jill Doty—4 x 200 meter relay—4th place

The 1987 girls track team included:  Jane Smith, Christie Jahn, Dawn Karrick, Kim Doyle, Nikki Kennett, Anna Lu Cornell, Madonna Johnson, Jill Doty, Chrissy Van Wieringen, Nicki Shafer, Denise Betka, Marie Parsons, Rita Haggerty, Stacy McQuigg, Aly Jo Haggerty, Dawn Gritton, Mary Schumacher, Shelley Dunavan, Carla Goble, Kenda Ramsey, Jackie McConnell and Cathy Wallace.  Manager was Chelle Goble.
