1984-85 Boys Basketball Team

IHSA 3rd Place

After graduating three starters from the previous year’s team, the 1985 boys’ basketball team was supposed to have a rebuilding year. Little did they know that 1985 was going to one to go down in the record books. The team climbed their way back to the IHSA Class A State Tournament for a second year in a row. Only this year, they placed 3rd in the state Class A tournament at the University of Illinois.

After suffering a disappointing second place finish in the Cornjerker Classic, this determined team pulled together to begin their march to the Assembly Hall. With a Wauseca Conference First Place finish under their belts, the team began their state series with a 3rd straight Regional Championship. After suffering a quarter final loss to Providence St. Mel, the team rallied to defeat Harvard for their 3rd place state finish and finished the year with a remarkable 31-3 record.

This team was recognized by a resolution on the floor of the Illinois General Assembly in 1985. Coach Randy Feller was also named District Coach of the Year.
